Using Help
REMINDER: This Help document is available for viewing online at http://www.virtual-sky.com/help.html.
REMINDER: In NoteCase Pro you can navigate the history of where you have been within this and any other document using the Tree Navigation History feature controls in the Tool Bar (left arrow icon for navigating backward in the history, right arrow icon for navigating forward). These controls are also located on the Navigation History sub-menu of the Tree Menu. (However, the history is deleted when you close the program.) If you are viewing this document from a Web browser use the similar Back and Forward tool bar icons in your browser.
Viewing
This Help file is best viewed with the Node Title Bar found on the View menu toggled on, with the Show Node Hierarchy in the Node Title Bar Setting activated, and with the Tags Pane activated from the View Menu open.
Thus configured, the Node Title Bar displays the title of each ancestor node and the node that is currently selected at the top of the editing pane in "breadcrumb" fashion. If the breadcrumb path is too long, an ellipse is inserted in the middle of the breadcrumb.
Some node titles may be too long to be fully displayed in the tree view, depending on the width of the Tree Pane you are using, unless you have set NoteCase Pro to Wrap Title Trees using the Display Settings page of the Configure NoteCase Pro dialog, which is launched from the Tools menu.
With the Tags Pane displayed, double clicking on a tag in it displays in the List Pane all Help file nodes that share that tag.
Navigation
All nodes with one or more descendant nodes have been assigned the folder icon. These changes are intended to enhance your ability to navigate the Help file using Explorer view-style expand and collapse actions largely as you would in a file manager. E.g.:
- Alt+T-E or Tree > Expand All to expand the entire tree;
- Alt+T-C or Tree > Collapse All to collapse the entire tree
- Double-click on a folder to expand or collapse it (or single click on the smaller symbol just to the left of the parent folder).
- Left arrow moves the focus up one node level and collapses the newly selected node. Right arrow expands a folder and moves the focus to the first child.
For example, if you wish to navigate to another node in another branch, collapse the entire tree and then navigate within the desired branch.
